Incidence of manifest glaucoma.
نویسنده
چکیده
The incidence of manifest glaucoma was determined by means of repeated automatic perimetry in a defined general population. It was estimated at 0.24% per year. It was largely independent of age but higher in women than in men and higher in the countryside than in the villages. In fact the incidence of manifest glaucoma was five times higher among women in the countryside than among men in the villages.

Glutathione s-transferase M1 and T1 genetic polymorphisms in Iranian patients with glaucoma
Objective(s):Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness and it is related to oxidative stress based on numerous studies. Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are members of multigenic family, which have important role in cells as an antioxidant. In the present study, we examined the polymorphism of GSTT1 and GSTM1 deletion genotypes (T0M1, T1M0, and T0M0) in 100 Glaucoma patients (41with pr...
متن کاملA comparison of the pattern- and total deviation-based Glaucoma Change Probability programs.
PURPOSE To compare the rates of progression of visual field defects in glaucoma patients, by using the Glaucoma Change Probability program based on pattern deviation and total deviation probability maps. METHODS The incidence of progression of visual field loss among 67 eyes of 56 glaucoma patients with an average of 6 years of follow-up was estimated by applying the criteria set by the Early...
متن کاملMethodological variations in estimating apparent progressive visual field loss in clinical trials of glaucoma treatment.
OBJECTIVES To compare methods to estimate the incidence of visual field progression used by 3 large randomized trials of glaucoma treatment by applying these methods to a common data set of annually obtained visual field measurements of patients with glaucoma followed up for an average of 6 years. METHODS The methods used by the Advanced Glaucoma Intervention Study (AGIS), the Collaborative I...
متن کاملAuthor response: incident open-angle glaucoma and ocular perfusion pressure.
The purpose of this letter is to provide corrections to a recent paper from the Rotterdam Eye Study, which evaluated the relationship between incident open-angle glaucoma (OAG) and ocular perfusion pressure (OPP). After adjustment for intraocular pressure (IOP), the researchers failed to find significant associations with OPP, concluding that the positive results of previous reports may be due ...
متن کاملDetection of glaucoma progression by perimetry and optic disc photography at different stages of the disease: results from the Early Manifest Glaucoma Trial
PURPOSE To compare the earliest detection of progression in visual fields and monoscopic optic disc photographs at different stages of manifest glaucoma. METHODS This study evaluated 306 eyes in 249 patients with manifest open-angle glaucoma included in the Early Manifest Glaucoma Trial (EMGT). All patients in the trial were followed up regularly by standard automated perimetry and monoscopic...
